Service Delivery: 'You Decide!' 2009

This page is dedicated to updating residents on the delivery of services purchased at the 2009 You Decide! events. The monitoring reports will be available here but we will also provide a handy update halfway through the projects and then as they all come to a close.

August 2010 Update

Curious to find out what happened with the projects that were voted for in your local area? Click on the link to the left to find out more about what happened in your LAP.

If you have any photographs of work that has happened in your area, please get in touch. We'd love to include them on the website.

All projects except those bought for 2 years (such as the Drug Outreach Workers) have completed successfully. Information regarding the 2 year projects will be included in 2010 Service Delivery so please click for more information.

May 2010 Update

With the services drawn to a close a full report detailing the delivery over the past 12 months has been produced.

The good news is that of the 93 projects or services voted for as part of You Decide! only 4 individual LAP projects missed their targets. These were all the Youth Inclusion Project (YIP) project; a project which relies for all it's targets on referrals from specialist agenices.

Apart from that there are some projects that are still going. The Drug Outreach Workers were appointed for two years as were the additional Police Officers.

In addition, the Extended Learning and Early GCSE projects will follow the school year and therefore the results of these projects won't be known until August.

A few projects are continuing for a few weeks to reach completion: This included the CCTV cameras and some of the shrub projects.

Overall, the attached report shows a record of real success; something we should all be proud of; whether we voted for a project, shaped it's structure, montiored it's delivery or worked so hard to deliver it.

You can see the whole report.

October 2009 Update

You Decide! gave more than 800 Tower Hamlets residents the rare opportunity to choose how to spend £2.4 million on additional council services to benefit their local area.

Now the voting is over the work has begun to put the extra projects and services into place.

The council, police and Local Area Partnership Steering groups – made up of residents and councillors - have been working together to ensure the services are delivered to meet local people’s needs.

In September we undertook a thorough review of the first 6 months of each of the projects. You can see the whole report here:

As you can see all of the projects are either rated as green, amber or red. Green means that the service is right on track. Amber means that it is slightly off track but will meet its target by the end of the year if it continues as it is and red means that the project needs to be improved or in order to meet it's targets.

The finance is also rated in the same way with expectation that 100% of the funding will be spent by the 30th March next year. Some exceptions apply where projects started late and so have been extended so they can last a full year.

If you have any questions about the report or any of the services being provided through You Decide! in your local area please contact the you decide team at youdecide@towerhamlets.gov.uk or 020 7364 4572

All of these services are being monitored by your LAP Steering Group. For more information on your local LAP Steering Group click here.

Did You Know?

Unlike the rest of the projects, both the Police Officers and Drug Outreach Workers were funded for two years meaning they will be with us until mid-way through 2011; all because of the votes of local residents.
