One Tower Hamlets
At the heart
of this Community Plan is the idea of One Tower Hamlets: reducing
poverty and inequality, bringing local communities closer together,
strong local leadership and personal responsibility... Tower
Hamlets’ diversity is a major strength - and this Community Plan
recognises the richness, vibrancy and energy that our communities
provide. But with diversity also comes challenge, and the Tower
Hamlets Partnership is firmly committed to making sure people are
treated with respect and fairness regardless of their
differences.
Everyone living, working or visiting
Tower Hamlets has the right to live free from discrimination and
prejudice – and everyone in the borough has a responsibility to
make sure this happens. This is our aspiration; creating a place
where everyone is free to live how they want but where we all feel
proud to be part of One Tower Hamlets.
We can only make One Tower Hamlets a
reality by 2020 with strong and effective partnership working to
improve the quality of resident’s lives. It needs major
contributions from local organisations, such as the Council,
Primary Care Trust, Police, voluntary and community organisations,
and businesses to deliver on our commitments to provide more
affordable family housing, get local people into jobs and make the
borough safer.
We all have a unique working knowledge
of local needs that will be essential in meeting our vision for
2020.
