You Decide! Health

Building on the success of You Decide! in 2009 the Tower Hamlets Partnership is working with NHS Tower Hamlets to deliver an opportunity for residents to influence some health services in their local area.

We call this 'You Decide!' Health.

Each year NHS Tower Hamlets health have to make decisions about which services should be provided in a local area and who should provide those services.

One of these services is the health trainers programme. This provides a number of projects, classes and schemes designed to improve the health of local residents with a specific focus on:

An opportunity to really influence public health services in your area.

  • Healthy Eating
  • Exercise
  • Smoking cessation
  • Reducing the harmful effects of alcohol

These services are provided by local community groups, the sort of people who are most likely to be aware of what porojects and support local people need.

This year NHS Tower Hamlets wants your help to decide how these services should be provided and who should provide them.

In public meetings at the end of September we will be beginning this process and invite residents from across the Borough to come and get invovled.

We held our first series of events between the 26th September and the 8th October. The results of these events will now be used to influence the first round of the commissioning process. Next we plan to involve residents in questioning the different service providers as to how they plan to meet the expectations laid down at these events.

A full report from these events is available here:
