Not just a walkabout
Residents from Tower Hamlets Local Area
Partnership (LAP 4) Steering Group, visited grot spots and
up-and-coming developments in Wapping and Shadwell with council
officers and local community groups during an organised ‘walk and
ride’ in their area.
The tour aimed to give Tower Hamlets Council
and the Wapping and Shadwell Safer Neighbourhoods Team a better
understanding of some of the positive and negative issues in the
area, as seen through the eyes of residents, so that services can
work together to tackle anti-social behaviour and environmental
issues.
“It’s great that officers could join us. It
means they can get a better understanding of what needs to be
improved.”
Sybil Yates, resident co-chair of LAP 4
steering group, also said: “It’s great that officers could join us.
It means they can see for themselves the problems such as paving in
Wapping Woods, Watney Market car park and get a better
understanding of what needs to be improved.”
