A Roman Christmas

roman christmasRoman Road has Christmas all wrapped up

People will be treated to an exciting free fun-filled atmosphere whilst Christmas shopping in Roman Road Market (in Bow) this year.

Shoppers and families can join in with festive, frolics and entertainment on Saturday 12 and 19 December, from 11am-4pm.

The programme of Christmas shopping entertainment is organised by Tower Hamlets Partnership and supported by J B Riney & Co Ltd - a construction company based in Bow.

On the special shopping days families can enjoy free ice skating on the temporary rink on Usher Road (off Roman Road).

Shoppers can also enjoy a retail break at Gladstone Place (outside Idea Store, Bow) by warming up with a free hot drink and nibbling on a mince pie whilst listening to local choirs performing cheerful carols or the brass band as it’s sounds fill the air with Christmas cheer.

Santa will be out and about roaming ‘the Roman’ handing out gifts to children under 11 years old ‘whether they’ve been naughty or nice’.

Stalls and shops along the Roman Road offer charming Christmas gift ideas for everyone including: fashionable clothing and shoes for the whole family, as well as foods, cakes, cosmetics, toiletries, beauty treatments and household goods– the choice is yours!

A French Continental Market is also set to join established traders on Roman Road Market on Friday 18 December. The French market will sell tempting delights such as cheeses, olives, cured meats and patisserie. Also on sale will be French African crafts, earthenware, leather goods, hand woven baskets, costume jewellery and much more!

Shoppers can also park free for two hours on Saturdays and Sundays on streets in and around Roman Road. The free parking will be during controlled hours in marked bays where parking is usually paid, for a list of streets this affects, visit: www.towerhamlets.gov.uk or call 020 7364 5000.
