Our Local Area Agreement (LAA)
In June 2008, the Tower Hamlets
Partnership
agreed a new Local Area Agreement (LAA) with
central government, to run from June 2008 to March 2011.
The agreement represents a new
framework
for addressing local
priorities
in
Tower Hamlets, and is designed to accelerate the delivery of
improved
outcomes
in areas which really matter to local
people. The agreement is made up of 35
targets
, chosen from
the government’s 198 National Indicators, which represent the
priority
areas where the
Partnership
and local people most want to see improved
performance.
Targets
The targets are structured around the
borough’s four
Community Plan
themes:
For each of these key themes, the
LAA
sets out the high-level
outcomes
that the local community, key partners and central
government want to see achieved over the lifetime of the
agreement.
The government’s part in the
LAA
is to provide greater local freedom and flexibility for
local authorities and their partners to do things differently,
simplify funding arrangements and reduce bureaucracy around
monitoring and reporting.
The agreement will be monitored by the
Partnership’s Community Plan Delivery Groups.
